Donald Ralph Wert, nicknamed "Coyote," was an American professional baseball player who spent most of his career as a third baseman for the Detroit Tigers from 1963 to 1971. Born in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, he attended Franklin & Marshall College before signing with Detroit as an amateur free agent in 1958. Known more for his glove than his bat, Wert earned recognition as one of the best-fielding third basemen in the American League, earning an All-Star selection during his tenure with the Tigers. He was a member of Detroit's 1968 World Series championship team. He finished his career with the Washington Senators in 1971.
