Donald Ray Woods (born February 17, 1951) played running back in the NFL from 1974 to 1980, primarily with the San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers. He attended New Mexico Highlands University before transferring to the University of New Mexico, where he played quarterback his senior year, rushing for 971 yards and passing for 869 yards while earning the team MVP award. He rushed for 188 yards against New Mexico State, earning UPI Back of the Week honors on September 15, 1973. Originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 1974 NFL Draft, he was released and signed by San Diego.
