Donald William Zimmer (January 17, 1931 – June 4, 2014) was an infielder, manager, and coach in Major League Baseball whose involvement in professional baseball spanned 65 years across eight decades. Zimmer signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1949 and reached the majors with the Dodgers in 1954, later playing for the Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, and Washington Senators before a stint with the Toei Flyers of Nippon Professional Baseball in 1966. At the 1955 Caribbean Series, representing the Puerto Rican League champion Cangrejeros de Santurce, Zimmer batted .400 with three home runs and a .950 slugging percentage, earning Most Valuable Player honors.
