Doug Barkley

Doug Barkley (born January 6, 1937, in Lethbridge, Alberta) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Black Hawks and Detroit Red Wings between 1957 and 1966. In 253 NHL games he recorded 24 goals and 80 assists for 104 points. His playing career ended in January 1966 when he suffered a serious eye injury during a game against Chicago. He later served as head coach of the Red Wings in 1970-71 and again in 1975-76, and worked for many years as a radio color commentator for the Calgary Flames.
