Doug Rau

Dossier
Douglas James Rau (born December 15, 1948) was a right-handed pitcher who spent the bulk of his major league career with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1972 to 1981. A product of Texas A&M University, Rau was a first-round pick in the secondary phase of the June 1970 amateur draft. He moved into the starting rotation in 1974 and developed into a reliable contributor, posting a 16-12 record with a 2.57 ERA in 1976, second-best in the National League. He was part of Dodgers pennant-winning teams in 1974, 1977, and 1978. Rotator cuff surgery in 1979 effectively ended his career.
