Duane Julius Thomas (June 21, 1947 – August 4, 2024) was a running back in the National Football League who played for the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at West Texas State University, where he lined up at fullback alongside Mercury Morris. His senior season he carried 199 times for 1,072 yards and 10 touchdowns, finishing his college career with 2,376 rushing yards — second all-time in school history at the time. He was selected by Dallas in the first round, 23rd overall, of the 1970 NFL Draft.
