Herman Sidney "Eagle" Day (October 2, 1932 – February 22, 2008) played quarterback at the University of Mississippi, where he was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference selection and led Ole Miss to SEC titles in 1954 and 1955. He posted a 26–5–1 record over three seasons under coach Johnny Vaught and was named MVP of the 1956 Cotton Bowl Classic after directing a 14–13 upset over Texas Christian. His professional career included time as a punter with the NFL's Washington Redskins and as a quarterback in the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Calgary Stampeders, and Toronto Argonauts.
