Clifford Earl Torgeson (January 1, 1924 – November 8, 1990) was a first baseman from Snohomish, Washington who played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1947 through 1961 across five teams. He carried the nickname "The Earl of Snohomish," originally associated with Hall of Famer Earl Averill, also a Snohomish native. Torgeson served in the U.S. Army during World War II before breaking into the majors. He finished with a .265 career batting average, 149 home runs, and a .385 on-base percentage. In 1950 he led the National League with 120 runs scored, and in 1957 he led the American League with a .999 fielding average at first base.
