Earl Weaver

Earl Sidney Weaver (August 14, 1930 – January 19, 2013) was an American professional baseball manager born in St. Louis, Missouri. A second baseman in the minor leagues from 1948 to 1960, Weaver never played in the major leagues but built his career in the managerial ranks. He took over the Baltimore Orioles in 1968 and managed the club through 1982, then returned for a final stint in 1985–86. He won a World Series championship with Baltimore in 1970 and earned three Manager of the Year awards. Weaver was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996.
