Edward Joseph, known as "Big Ed", was born September 3, 1885 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and died May 27, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. He made his major-league debut in 1907 and was associated chiefly with the St. Louis Cardinals, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1921, a span of 15 seasons.
