Eddie Giacomin
Dossier
Edward Giacomin (June 6, 1939 – September 14, 2025) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who spent his NHL career with the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings between 1965 and 1978. He turned professional in 1959, playing four games for the Washington Presidents of the Eastern Hockey League before brief stints with the Clinton Comets. Despite suffering serious burns in a kitchen accident, Giacomin earned a roster spot with the Providence Reds in 1960–61 and held that position for five full seasons. The Rangers acquired him in 1965, trading three players and starting goaltender Marcel Paille to secure his services.
