Edwin David Joost (June 5, 1916 – April 12, 2011) was an American professional baseball shortstop who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball between 1936 and 1955. A right-handed hitter known for his defense, Joost played for the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Braves, Philadelphia Athletics, and Boston Red Sox, finishing his career with 134 home runs, a .239 batting average, and 601 RBI. He was a central figure in the Athletics' late-1940s resurgence. In 1954, he became the third and final manager in the Philadelphia Athletics' 54-year history, leading the club in its final season before the franchise relocated to Kansas City.
