Dossier
Edward Charles John "Eddie" Litzenberger (July 15, 1932 – November 1, 2010) was a Canadian right winger from Neudorf, Saskatchewan. He broke into junior hockey with the Regina Pats, leading the Western Canada Junior Hockey League in scoring with 44 goals in 40 games in 1950–51. After brief appearances with the Montreal Canadiens, he was transferred to the Chicago Black Hawks in 1954–55 — a move arranged by league governors to help the struggling franchise remain viable. Litzenberger responded with 40 points in 44 games, earning the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top rookie and a berth in the NHL All-Star Game.
