Eddie Yost
Dossier
Edward Frederick Joseph Yost (1926–2012) was a right-handed third baseman who spent most of his career with the Washington Senators after signing as an amateur free agent in 1944. He made his Major League debut on August 16, 1944, at age 17, without having played a single minor-league game. After a season in the U.S. Navy, he returned to Washington and went on to play two seasons each with the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels before retiring in 1962. Nicknamed "The Walking Man," Yost ranks 11th all-time in career walks and was regarded as one of the best leadoff hitters and defensive third basemen of his era.
