Elmer Valo (March 5, 1921 – July 19, 1998), born Imrich Valo in Rybník, Czechoslovakia, was a Slovak American right fielder who spent 20 seasons in Major League Baseball between 1940 and 1961. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed, posting a career .282 average with 58 home runs and 601 RBI across 1,806 games. Valo spent the bulk of his career with the Athletics franchise, following the club through its relocations from Philadelphia to Kansas City. His playing time was interrupted by U.S. Army service from 1943 to 1946, during which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant.
