Emil Karas

Emil Karas (December 13, 1933 – November 25, 1974) was a linebacker who played college football at the University of Dayton before being selected in the third round of the 1959 NFL Draft. He played for the Washington Redskins in the NFL and later joined the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers in the American Football League. A three-time AFL All-Star (1961, 1962, 1963), Karas was a member of the Chargers' 1963 AFL Championship team. He died of pancreatic cancer on November 25, 1974, at age 40.
