Enzo Octavio Hernández (February 12, 1949 – January 13, 2013) was a Venezuelan shortstop who played in Major League Baseball from 1971 through 1978 for the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. Born in Valle de Guanape, Venezuela, the right-handed hitter stood 5'8" and weighed 155 pounds. Originally signed by the Houston Astros in 1967, he later moved through the Baltimore Orioles organization before being traded to San Diego, where he served as the Padres' regular shortstop through most of the 1971–1976 period. Hernández stole 20 or more bases four times and recorded 595 assists in 1971, the fifth-highest single-season total ever for a shortstop.
