F. Chance Cub o/chest
Dossier
Frank Chance (1876–1924), the "Peerless Leader" of the Chicago Cubs, played first base and managed simultaneously through the franchise's only championship run — four pennants between 1906 and 1910 and World Series titles in 1907 and 1908. A right-handed hitter and thrower converted from catcher early in his career, Chance brought a brawler's edge to the dugout and a reliable bat to the lineup. The "Cub on chest" variation is one of his T206 White Border poses, depicting him in a Chicago jersey with the cub mascot rendered prominently on the placket — one of several uniform variations the foundational 1909–1911 tobacco set captured across its sprawling checklist. Chance died September 15, 1924 in Los Angeles. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1946 alongside Tinker and Evers.
