Frank Selke

Frank J. Selke served as general manager of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens, establishing himself as one of hockey's most influential front-office figures. His contributions to the sport were recognized when the NHL named an annual award in his honor: the Frank J. Selke Trophy, first presented following the 1977–78 season, is given each year to the forward who best demonstrates defensive skill. The winner is chosen by a vote of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.
