Fred Luderus

Dossier
Frederick William Luderus (1885–1961) played first base in the major leagues from 1909 to 1920, primarily for the Philadelphia Phillies, with a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs. In a 1,346-game career he batted .277 with 84 home runs and 642 RBI. Luderus was part of the 1915 Phillies squad that won the National League pennant, and in that year's World Series he batted .438 (7-for-16) with six RBI — hitting the only Phillies home run of the Series, in Game 5, making him the first Phillie to homer in World Series play.
