Fred "Fritz" Peterson (February 8, 1942 – October 19, 2023) was a left-handed starting pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Texas Rangers from 1966 to 1976. A product of Northern Illinois University, Peterson was signed by the Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1963. His best season came in 1970, when he went 20–11 and earned an All-Star selection. He finished his career with a 133–131 record and held the lowest walks-per-innings ratio of any left-handed pitcher in the major leagues since the 1920s.
