Garner Ekstran

Nelson Garner Ekstran (1939–2026) played defensive end and linebacker in the Canadian Football League for eight seasons, seven with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1961–1967) and one with the BC Lions. A Washington State University product, Ekstran earned CFL All-Star honors in 1962, 1963, and 1967 at both defensive end and outside linebacker. His play on the Saskatchewan defense contributed to the Roughriders' 1966 Grey Cup championship over the Ottawa Rough Riders. He closed his professional career with the BC Lions before retiring from football.
