Garry Lee Maddox (born September 1, 1949, Los Angeles, California) played center field in Major League Baseball from 1972 to 1986. He broke in with the San Francisco Giants before moving to the Philadelphia Phillies, where he built his reputation as one of the game's premier defensive outfielders, earning eight consecutive Gold Glove Awards. Maddox was part of the Phillies' 1980 World Series championship club. In 1986 he received the Roberto Clemente Award for community charity work. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Fame in 2001 and went on to a business career in Philadelphia after retiring.
