Gene Ubriaco

Eugene Stephen Ubriaco was born December 26, 1937, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He played three seasons in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Oakland Seals, and Chicago Black Hawks. Originally signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs, he had played juvenile hockey in Sault Ste. Marie, where his 1953–54 Doran's team captured Sault, Northern Ontario, and All-Ontario titles. In 1970 he returned to school to pursue coaching, eventually returning to the NHL as head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988. He joined the Chicago Wolves as coach in 1994 and later served as the organization's Director of Hockey Operations.
