George Hay

William George "The Western Wizard" Hay (January 10, 1898 – July 13, 1975) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward born in Listowel, Ontario. He played for the Regina Capitals and Portland Rosebuds in the Western Canada Hockey League, earning four All-Star selections in five seasons, before moving to the NHL when the Rosebuds franchise was sold in 1926. Hay scored the first goal in Chicago Black Hawks history and later spent several seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, retiring in 1933. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958.
