George Sauer

Dossier
George Henry Sauer Jr. (1943–2013) was a wide receiver who spent six seasons with the New York Jets of the American Football League. He played college football at Texas, where he was part of the undefeated 1963 Longhorns and the 1964 squad that defeated Alabama in the Orange Bowl. Sauer led the AFL in receptions in 1967. In Super Bowl III, he caught eight passes for 133 yards as the Jets upset the heavily favored Baltimore Colts — leading all receivers in that game. He later appeared in the World Football League before retiring.
