George Bostic "Possum" Whitted (February 4, 1890 – October 16, 1962) was a Major League Baseball outfielder and third baseman who played from 1912 to 1922 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Brooklyn Robins. He was the first rookie in history to start at every position except pitcher and catcher in a single season. A member of the 1914 "Miracle Braves," Whitted was part of the team that climbed from last place to win the pennant and defeat the Philadelphia Athletics in the World Series. He also appeared with the 1915 Phillies NL pennant winners. Over 11 seasons, Whitted posted a .269 batting average across 1,025 games.
