Gord Smith

Gordon John Smith (born November 17, 1949) is a Canadian defenseman originally selected by the New York Rangers in the 1969 NHL Entry Draft. After the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft he joined the Washington Capitals, where he spent five seasons. He was subsequently claimed by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. Smith is the older brother of New York Islanders goaltender Billy Smith.
