Greg Cook

Dossier
Greg Cook (November 20, 1946 – January 27, 2012) was an American football quarterback selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the fifth overall pick in the 1969 AFL draft. In his rookie season he passed for 1,854 yards and was named AFL Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press and United Press International. His 9.41 yards per pass attempt that year set a rookie record that still stands and remains a Bengals franchise record. During a game against Kansas City he suffered a shoulder injury that proved to be a torn rotator cuff, which went undiagnosed and kept him off the field for the following three seasons. He returned briefly in 1973 before retiring, having played in only 12 professional games.
