Gus Suhr (January 3, 1906 – January 15, 2004) was a left-handed-hitting first baseman who spent the bulk of his Major League Baseball career with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1930–39) before finishing with the Philadelphia Phillies (1939–40). Born in San Francisco, Suhr batted .279 lifetime with 84 home runs and 818 RBI across 1,435 games, posting three 100-RBI seasons and a career-high .312 average in 1936. He was selected for the 1936 All-Star Game and compiled a .992 career fielding percentage at first base. Before reaching the majors, he starred for the San Francisco Seals, hitting .381 with 51 home runs and 177 RBI in 1929.
