Hector Harold Brown (1924–2015), nicknamed "Skinny," was a right-handed pitcher from Greensboro, North Carolina who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before serving with the U.S. Army Air Forces in the European theatre of World War II. A knuckleballer known for outstanding control, Brown worked as both a starter and reliever in the major leagues from 1951 through 1964 with the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, and Houston Colt .45s. He spent the bulk of his career in Baltimore, going 62–48 over eight seasons with the Orioles and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1991.
