Harold Clifton Lanier (born July 4, 1942) played infield in Major League Baseball from 1964 through 1973, spending most of his career with the San Francisco Giants before finishing with the New York Yankees. A defense-first player, he was selected for the 1964 Topps All-Star Rookie team after posting a career-high .274 batting average in his first season. He later managed the Houston Astros to the National League West division title in 1986, earning National League Manager of the Year honors in his rookie managerial season. He is the son of former MLB All-Star pitcher Max Lanier.
