Henry Janzen

Henry Janzen (1940–2022) was a Canadian football defensive back and return specialist who played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League. He joined the team at age 19 and led it in punt returns as a rookie, winning the Dr. Beattie Martin Trophy as the top rookie in the Western Interprovincial Football Union. He was part of three Grey Cup championships with Winnipeg, including the 1959 and 1961 games against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In his final season, 1965, he intercepted seven passes and was named a West All-Star. He retired in 1966 with 103 games played and 15 career interceptions, then became head coach of the Manitoba Bisons, leading them to Vanier Cup championships in 1969 and 1970.
