Howard William Morenz (September 21, 1902 – March 8, 1937) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played centre in the NHL from 1923 until his death in 1937. Known as the "Stratford Streak" and "Mitchell Meteor" for his speed, Morenz spent the majority of his career with the Montreal Canadiens, with additional stints with the Chicago Black Hawks and New York Rangers. He won the Stanley Cup three times, all with Montreal, and claimed the Hart Trophy as league MVP three times. Over his 14 NHL seasons, he led the league once in goals and twice in points.
