John Elvin Harshman (July 12, 1927 – August 17, 2013) was an American left-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1948 to 1960. Originally developed as a hitter during his minor league years with the San Diego Padres and other clubs, he transitioned to pitching before reaching the majors. Harshman appeared for five clubs over his career: the New York Giants, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, and Cleveland Indians. He was born in San Diego, California.
