Jake Thomas Mooty (1912-1970) was an American right-handed pitcher who appeared in Major League Baseball between 1936 and 1944. A native of Texas, he attended Texas A&M University from 1933 to 1935 before turning professional. Mooty made his major-league debut on September 9, 1936, with the Cincinnati Reds and pitched for them through 1937. He returned to the majors with the Chicago Cubs, for whom he pitched from 1940 to 1943, and finished his career with the Detroit Tigers in 1944. Over his major-league career he compiled a 16-23 win-loss record with a 4.03 earned run average and 145 strikeouts. He batted and threw right-handed. Mooty died in 1970 at age 58.
