Jacob Wood Jr. (born June 22, 1937, in Elizabeth, New Jersey) was a right-handed second baseman who played 608 games over seven Major League Baseball seasons with the Detroit Tigers (1961–1967) and Cincinnati Reds (1967). He attended Delaware State University on a scholarship before signing with Detroit as an amateur free agent in 1957. Wood worked through five minor league stops, batting above .300 at each level, and made his major league debut on April 11, 1961, starting at second base and batting leadoff in the Tigers' season opener against the Cleveland Indians.
