James Bailey, a 6-foot-9 forward/center from Rutgers University, was selected 6th overall in the 1979 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. Known as "Jammin' James," he spent nine seasons in the NBA (1979–1988) with the SuperSonics, New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and Phoenix Suns, finishing his career with 5,246 points. At Rutgers, Bailey built his reputation on an explosive inside game and exceptional leaping ability, converting alley-oop passes into slam dunks at a prolific rate — recording 88 dunks as a sophomore and 116 as a junior.
