John William Johnstone Jr. (November 20, 1945 – September 26, 2020) was a Major League Baseball outfielder who played from 1966 to 1985 for eight clubs, including the California Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs. Born in Manchester, Connecticut, and raised in Southern California, he was signed by the Los Angeles Angels as an amateur free agent in 1963. A versatile outfielder, Johnstone appeared in two World Series — with the Yankees in 1978 and the Dodgers in 1981. He later worked as a radio color commentator for the Yankees and Phillies.
