Jerry Adair was a professional baseball player who spent his career as a second baseman and shortstop from 1958 to 1971. Born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on December 17, 1936, he was of partial Cherokee descent. Adair spent his most prominent years with the Baltimore Orioles as the starting second baseman for five seasons, and also played for the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals. He was regarded as one of the best fielding second basemen of his era, setting a Major League record by fielding 458 consecutive chances without an error. He finished his playing career with the Hankyu Braves in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball league.
