Jerry Lane Stovall (born April 30, 1941, West Monroe, Louisiana) played college football at LSU as a halfback, earning unanimous All-America honors in 1962. The St. Louis Cardinals selected him in the first round of the 1963 NFL Draft, and he went on to play safety and punter for the Cardinals through 1971, earning Pro Bowl selections in 1966, 1967, and 1969. He later returned to LSU as head coach from 1980 to 1983, posting a 22–21–2 record and guiding the 1982 squad to the Orange Bowl. Stovall was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
