Jess George Dobernic was an American right-handed pitcher who appeared in parts of three Major League Baseball seasons, in 1939 and from 1948 to 1949. Born in Spring Valley, Illinois, in 1917, he pitched for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. Used primarily in relief, he compiled a career record of 7-3 with a 5.21 earned run average and 55 strikeouts over 109 innings pitched. In the Pacific Coast League in 1947 he was credited with 26 saves for the Los Angeles Angels, who won the league championship that season. Dobernic died in 1998.
