James Patrick Beirne (1946–2021) was a wide receiver who played college football at Purdue University, earning All-American honors. He entered professional football with the Houston Oilers of the American Football League, where he was named an AFL All-Star in 1969. Beirne continued his career in the NFL, playing for both the Oilers and the San Diego Chargers.
