Jim Bouton was an American professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1962 to 1978 with the New York Yankees, Seattle Pilots, Houston Astros, and Atlanta Braves. He attended Western Michigan University before signing with the Yankees. Bouton was part of the 1962 World Series championship team, appeared in the 1963 All-Star Game, and went 2-0 in the 1964 World Series. Later in his career he adopted the knuckleball. He is also known for authoring Ball Four (1970), a diary of his 1969 season combined with recollections of his years with the Yankees, Pilots, and Astros.
