Jim Butler
Dossier
James "Cannonball" Butler (May 4, 1943 – February 10, 2014) was a running back who played eight seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, and St. Louis Cardinals. A native of Quincy, Florida, he played college football at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida — a historically Black university — and remains the only player from that school to reach the NFL. Butler was Atlanta's leading rusher in each of his four seasons with the Falcons (1968–1971) and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1969. He was drafted by Pittsburgh in the 14th round of the 1965 NFL Draft.
