James Robert Hughes (1923-2001) was an American baseball pitcher who appeared in six Major League seasons from 1952 to 1957 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago White Sox. In 1954 he led the National League in saves with 24 and tied for the league lead in games pitched with 60. He was a member of four pennant-winning Dodger teams in 1952, 1953, 1955, and 1956, appearing in the 1953 World Series.
