James Howard Sundberg (born May 18, 1951, Galesburg, Illinois) played catcher in Major League Baseball from 1974 to 1989. A graduate of the University of Iowa, he was selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 1973 secondary free agent draft and made the jump from Class A ball directly to the majors at age 22. He spent the bulk of his career with Texas, earning six consecutive Gold Glove Awards and three All-Star selections. He closed his career with a World Series title as a member of the 1985 Kansas City Royals. Sundberg also played for the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs.
