James Reubin Tabor (November 5, 1916 – August 22, 1953), nicknamed "Rawhide," was an American third baseman in Major League Baseball who played from 1938 to 1947. Born in New Hope, Alabama, he batted and threw right-handed and attended the University of Alabama. Tabor played for the Boston Red Sox (1938–1944) and Philadelphia Phillies (1946–1947). On July 4, 1939 he hit four home runs in a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Athletics, including two grand slams in consecutive innings, and drove in 11 runs. Over 1,005 games he batted .270 with 1,021 hits, 104 home runs, and 598 runs batted in. His career was followed by U.S. Army service after the 1944 season. He played in the pre-integration era and died at age 36.
