Jimmy Jones

Dossier

James Jones (born January 1, 1945, in Tallulah, Louisiana) was a 6'4" guard who played seven seasons in the American Basketball Association for the New Orleans Buccaneers, Memphis Pros, and Utah Stars. He attended Grambling State University and was drafted by both the NBA's Baltimore Bullets and the ABA's New Orleans Buccaneers in 1967, choosing New Orleans. Jones helped the Buccaneers win the inaugural ABA Western Division title in 1968 and averaged 20 points per game during that year's playoff run. He scored 2,000 points in the 1968–69 season and was named an ABA All-Star six times, one of only four players in the league's nine-year history to earn that distinction.
