Samuel James Tilden Sheckard (November 23, 1878 – January 15, 1947). A native of Upper Chanceford, Pennsylvania, he died in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Standing 5-foot-9 and listed at 175 pounds, batted left-handed and threw right. He worked the major leagues from 1897 through 1913, spending the bulk of his career with the Chicago Cubs of the National League. His professional career stretched from 1896 to 1914, bracketing his big-league time with seasons in the minors at both ends.
